I haven’t had any success at taking a photo of the moon at night. Not with this much detail. This afternoon I could see the moon during the daytime so I was able to take it during the day. Doesn’t make sense, but it worked. The image was also cropped.
I used a Sigma optical stabilization zoom lens (10X) for this shot.

Camera: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi
Exposure: 0.004 sec (1/250)
Focal Length: 200 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Flash: Flash did not fire

  1. Very nice. Someone listed in my blogroll (if you go to the creativedoodling site.wordpress) has a perfect photo of the moon with a detailed description of how they did it at night. I wish I could remember who and how for you. If you can’t find it through my link, email me and I will find it and send you their link. Your photography is beautiful by the way.

  2. Thanks, yeah, a link would be nice.
