Focal Length:50mm
Shutter:1/0 sec

I took the Canon 50mm f1.4 lens out today to shoot in some woods. It’s my favorite lens right now because it does so well in low light, but I also like the dof from this thing. I should have gotten this lens before I got anything else.

I’m sure there will be so much more to learn about photography, but this was my greatest “aha” moment so far, putting this lens on the camera and seeing what it can do.

Camera: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi
Exposure: 1/4000 sec
Aperture: f/2
Focal Length: 50 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Flash: Flash did not fire

  1. Very cool depth of field. Very sharp foreground. Now if I could get my blogposts to turn this color instead of ugly gray.

  2. Do you mean the wordpress template?

I hate all the framing colors, I wish there was a choice to have a consistent color such as black or white frame.

Hot pink is the worst. The very worst.

  3. Nifty fifties are a minor miracle! Lovely shot.

  4. Thanks and so true on that fifty, God I love that lens.

  5. Interesting focal point.

I really do love leafless trees.

  6. It makes winter easier to tolerate.
