about gzip compression. this quote “I used the wp-super-cache plugin to set it up and changed the .htaccess file; my blog does seem faster to me.” may help. try wp-super-cache and changing your .htaccess. im not sure how you do this on WP, but have a google. maybe try checking out Digital Point forums if your stuck. hope this helps.
Thank you James for returning and answering my question. Someone wrote in today that the wordpress.com hosted blogs don’t allow these types of plugins.
I’ll try uploading smaller image sizes if it doesn’t make a difference in screen quality.

Hi Kitty, I’m in the process of creating my own photo-centered website and happened upon yours, which looks great! Can you advise about how you protect your images from being copied? I didn’t see any watermarks on them. My main concern is making sure that my images aren’t pirated. Can you advise? Many thanks! Abi
Hi Abi, it is probably impossible to prevent people from stealing your images if you have them on the internet.
I upload very small files that are useless if someone tries to print them, that helps.

Love the blog. I just took up photography as a hobby about 2 years ago and love it. I learn something new every time I take my camera out. I decided to switch to this theme and tone down my blog from what I was originally doing with it. Keep up the great work.
